Ioana L. Aanei

Associate Director BD and Alliance Management at Scribe Therapeutics

Ioana L. Aanei has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2009 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington in the Pun Lab, where they explored the applications of self assembled monolayers in gene therapy. In 2010, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Caltech in the Davis Lab. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Graduate Student at the University of California, Berkeley in the Francis Lab, where they developed a series of virus-like particles (VLPs) based on the MS2 bacteriophage, the tobacco mosaic virus and the fd filamentous phage protein coats. From 2012 to 2015, they were a Graduate Student Research Affiliate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where they optimized existing radiolabeling protocols and developed HPLC SEC and SDS-PAGE assays for determining the stability of virus-like particles. From 2015 to 2017, they were Vice-chair and Graduate Student Liaison at the Berkeley Postdoctoral Entrepreneur Program (BPEP), where they organized and lead seminars with over 100 participants per event. From 2017 to 2019, they were an Entrepreneurship Program Manager at QB3, where they helped entrepreneurs in the life sciences field through mentoring, workshops, seminars, partnering days and office hours. From 2019 to 2020, they were a Community Engagement Fellow at Alumni Ventures Group and from 2020 to present, they have been an Associate Director BD and Alliance Management and a Senior Manager, Strategy and Operations at Scribe Therapeutics, as well as a Deputy Director at the UCSF Rosenman Institute.

Ioana L. Aanei attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2011 to 2016, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry, Chemical Biology. From 2007 to 2011, they attended Caltech, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry. In 2009, they also completed a study abroad program at the Danish Technical University and Copenhagen University in Chemistry.
