Philip Dawson, PhD

Phil Dawson is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute, where involvement spans from the role of Associate Professor in both the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology to leadership positions as Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies. With a significant tenure at The Scripps Research Institute beginning in 1997, Phil Dawson also co-founded and served as a board member for Elsie Biotechnologies from February 2021 to June 2024. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral position at the California Institute of Technology from 1996 to 1997. Phil Dawson holds an A.B. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Washington University in St. Louis and a PhD in Chemistry from Scripps Research.
