Michael Fernandes, PMP, CSP-SM

Michael Fernandes, PMP, CSP-SM, has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Michael has held the role of Project Manager, Scrum Master, and Change Manager at MikeFernandes Consulting since 2018, where they have successfully implemented Agile for various clients. Michael also has experience as a Salesforce Project Manager with expertise in Agile and the Scrum framework.

Prior to that, Michael worked as a Certified Scrum Professional at Scrum Alliance, managing a multi-million dollar project for infrastructure and software implementations. Michael was responsible for delivering projects on time and under budget while focusing on user experience and digital accessibility.

Before their Scrum Alliance role, they served as an Account Manager at Roevin Engineering & Technology and as a Senior Account Executive at Robert Half. Their experience also includes Sales and Marketing Manager at Sky Zone Franchise Group and Educator and People Safety Lead at lululemon athletica.

Michael started their career as an Information Technology Consultant at Coutinho Consulting, where they worked until 2013. Michael then held positions as an IPG Computer Technician at Best Buy Canada and as a QA Technician at Rogers Communications.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated strong project management, Scrum, and Agile skills, along with proficiency in testing, requirement workshops, and interviewing and training.

Michael Fernandes obtained a degree in Commerce and Economics from McMaster University, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Michael also attended BrainStation and General Assembly, although specific details about their degree and field of study are not provided.

In terms of additional certifications, Michael has obtained several qualifications. In 2022, they obtained certifications including Certified Agile Leadership Essentials (CAL-E), Certified Agile Leadership for Orgs (CAL-O), Certified Agile Leadership for Teams (CAL-T), and Scrum Foundations Educator, all from the Scrum Alliance. Michael also achieved the Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner certification from Prosci in March 2022.

Furthermore, Michael acquired the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft in December 2020 and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in the same month. In September 2020, they obtained a certification in User Experience Design from General Assembly.

Michael holds the Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) designation from the Scrum Alliance, which they obtained in April 2019. In March 2019, they completed the Mastering Project Management course at the Project Management Academy. Prior to that, in October 2018, they obtained the Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM™) certification from the Scrum Alliance.

In June 2018, Michael earned the Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB™) certification from the International Six Sigma Institute™. Before that, in August 2017, they obtained the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance. Their earliest certification, in November 2015, was in Emergency First Aid CPR/AED Level C, obtained from the Canadian Red Cross.
