Hidde Rommens has a diverse work experience in the field of research and development. Hidde started their career as a Teacher Assistant in Chemistry and Physics at De Amersfoortse Berg in 2012. After that, they worked as a Chemical Analyst at AQUON Instituut voor Wateronderzoek en Advies from 2011 to 2012. In 2009, they served as a Teacher Assistant in Analytical Chemistry at Hogeschool Utrecht.
In 2012, Hidde joined Shell Global Solutions as an Associate Researcher Experimentation, where they supported various projects related to Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (cEOR) and developed new surfactants for the Upstream EOR team. Hidde also worked as a Researcher Intern in the Gas-to-Liquids (GtL) technologies, focusing on the catalytic behavior of the Fischer–Tropsch process.
Hidde had an internship opportunity at Shell in 2017, where they worked as a Graduate Intern and conducted research on the possible correlation between oil wettability and interfacial material compound composition using Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometer (FT ICR MS).
Hidde later joined TNO in 2018 as an R&D Chemical Analyst for a brief period before moving to SCW Systems. At SCW Systems, Hidde initially served as an R&D Engineer, where they were involved in the development of supercritical water gasification technology for clean energy production. Hidde then took on the role of an R&D Project Manager, responsible for managing research and development projects. Currently, they hold the position of Team Lead R&D at SCW Systems.
Hidde Rommens has a strong educational background in analytical chemistry. Hidde started their education at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) in 2007, where they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Analytical Chemistry in 2012.
Afterwards, in 2015, Hidde pursued further studies with a focus on analytical chemistry. Hidde completed a Pre-master program in Analytical Chemistry at both the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). In the same year, they also obtained a post-academic diploma in Chemical Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
From 2016 to 2018, Hidde enrolled in two separate Master of Science programs in Analytical Sciences with a specialization in Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), respectively.
Additionally, Hidde has acquired several certifications to enhance their expertise in the field. In 2013, they obtained certifications in "Introduction to Downstream DS00" from Shell Learning and "Surfactants and Polymers in Aqueous Solutions" from Calmia Education Center. In 2015, they also received a certification in "Organic Chemistry" from Hogeschool Utrecht.
