Raphael Carvalho

Raphael "Raph" Carvalho is a Principal Software Engineer at ScyllaDB, having joined the company in February 2015. Known for a passion for resolving critical customer issues, Raphael has progressed through roles from Software Engineer to Senior Software Engineer, contributing to the development of ScyllaDB, a NoSQL data store compatible with Apache Cassandra, particularly focusing on research and development for its storage layer. Prior to ScyllaDB, Raphael worked as a Software Engineer at Cloudius Systems, where the creation of OSv, a cloud-optimized operating system, was the main focus. Additionally, Raphael contributed to The Syslinux Project, enhancing file system support, and served as a mentor during the Google Summer of Code for projects related to OSv. Earlier academic experience includes research and development at Universidade FUMEC under the supervision of Professor Rafael Nunes.
