Richard Best

Richard R. Best is an experienced legal professional with a comprehensive background in regulatory enforcement and examination within the financial sector. Currently serving as the Acting Director and Director of the Division of Examinations at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since July 2015, Richard has held multiple leadership roles and regional directorships. Prior to this position, Richard spent over a decade with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, culminating in the role of Senior Director and Chief Counsel in the Department of Enforcement. Richard's earlier experience includes significant positions at the Office of the Bronx County District Attorney and the District of Columbia Corporation Counsel. Richard holds a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Old Westbury.
