Swen Kooij

Swen Kooij has a strong background in software engineering, with a focus on developing and implementing technology solutions.

Swen worked at Sector Labs as a Principal Software Engineer, starting in May 2022. Prior to this role, Swen was a Senior Software Engineer at the same company from September 2016 to June 2022. During their time at Sector Labs, they played a significant role in building and launching two real-estate portals in the Middle East, serving millions of users.

Before joining Sector Labs, Swen worked at Fortech starting in December 2015 as a Senior Software Engineer. Here, they matured and developed an embedded platform for modern e-bikes using the Qt/QML framework. Swen was heavily involved in developing the communication stack using SocketCAN and QtRemoteObjects. Additionally, they designed and developed a prototype for a delta-encoding update system to enhance user friendliness.

Swen's earlier experience includes working as a Software Engineer at BigBrother International from January 2013 to December 2015. During their time there, they designed and developed a modern architecture using web-oriented technologies and native solutions. Swen also contributed to the company's transition to video surveillance using H.264 based video streaming and recording.

Swen Kooij started their education in 2007 at VMBO, where they studied until 2012. After completing VMBO, Swen pursued Applicatie Ontwikkeling (Application Development) starting in 2012. Swen is currently engaged in this program, and it focuses on Computer Software Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Swen received a certification in Programming with Qt/QML from KDAB in May 2016.
