Suzette L. Huovinen

Suzette Huovinen has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Suzette began their career at Securian Financial in 1997 as an Actuary and held various roles within the company, including Second VP and Actuary - ERM and Vice President, Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer. In 2015, they were promoted to Second VP, Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer, and in 2017, they became Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer. In 2019, Suzette joined Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company as the Chief Executive Officer, and later became the Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. Suzette returned to Securian Financial in 2022 as Senior Vice President - Finance before taking on the role of President, CEO and Chair of Securian Asset Management in 2023.

Suzette Huovinen completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Mathematics from Concordia College, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. In addition to their undergraduate degree, they also obtained various certifications throughout their career. Suzette became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in May 2004 and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute in September 2006.
