Wendy Garcia is a seasoned leader in equity and inclusion, currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner for Equity & Inclusion at the New York City Police Department since April 2022. Prior to this role, Wendy held the position of Chief Diversity Officer at the NYC Office of the Comptroller from 2014 to December 2023, overseeing compliance for the equitable inclusion of women and people of color in a wide array of fiscal operations managing significant public funds. Wendy’s extensive experience includes serving as Director at the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, where strategic partnerships benefited numerous nonprofit programs, and as Deputy Director at the Manhattan Borough President's Office, supervising office operations and promoting equal employment opportunities. Earlier career highlights include work as a Community Liaison and Grant Writer at the Center for Faith and Justice. Wendy holds a Master’s degree in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from The New School and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Affairs from the University of Delaware.
