Pieter Neethling

Pieter Neethling has extensive work experience in the mining and software development industries. Pieter started their career as a Mine Overseer at Rand Mines Ltd - Durban Roodepoort Deep Gold Mine in 1986.

From 1990 to 2000, they worked at Sasol, where they held various roles including Area Business Manager, Product Manager, and Explosives Engineer. During this time, they established an office and had responsibilities for commercial and blast engineering expertise for a region comprising of deep-level underground, open pit, and quarry operations. Pieter also played a key role in business development and market penetration for initiation systems and explosives.

In 2001, Pieter joined Graphic Mining Solutions International as a Key Account Executive, and then moved to AngloGold Ashanti in 2004, where they served as the Mineral Resource Management - IT Manager.

Pieter joined Bentley Systems in 2008 as a Global Solution Executive for the Mining & Metals sector. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as the Vice President and Director of MineRP Australia Pty Ltd.

In 2014, Pieter established their own company, AssetROC Pty Ltd, where they served as the Owner Director until 2016.

From 2016 to 2018, they worked at Dassault Systèmes as the Director of Technical Services, Geovia Centre of Excellence, Asia Pacific.

Most recently, Pieter has been working at Seequent since 2018. Pieter started as a Consultant and later became the VP Production Geology. Currently, they hold the position of Segment Director - Mining Operations. Seequent is a global leader in the development of visual data science software and collaborative technologies, serving various industries including mining & minerals, civil, environmental, and energy.

Pieter Neethling obtained an HND in Metalliferous Mining Engineering from the University of Johannesburg in the period from 1982 to 1985. In 1983, they also earned a Mine Overseer's Certificate of Competency from the Department of Minerals and Energy Affairs in South Africa. Additionally, they attended Parktown Boys High School from 1975 to 1979. In 1989, Pieter Neethling briefly pursued Business Administration and Management studies at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. Pieter further expanded their knowledge in the field of Business Administration, Management, and Operations by completing the Australian Institute of Company Directors Certification.
