Jose Fernando Tovar Mejia

Jose Fernando Tovar Mejia has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Jose Fernando started their career in 2012 as an Asistente Jurídico y Administrativo at Instituto del Seguro Social, where they implemented a digital system for responding to judicial defense cases. Jose Fernando then worked as an Asistente Jurídico y Administrativo at Fiscalía General de la Nación, providing legal and administrative support to the unit. Later, they joined Kolrepuestos diésel & maquinaria Ltda. as an Abogado de empresa, where they coordinated the legal department and implemented processes for contract management.

In 2019, Jose worked as an Enlace Legislativo y Enlace institucional con el Congreso de la Republica at Presidencia de la República de Colombia. In this role, they coordinated and managed the relationships between the Executive and Legislative branches, and provided technical support for legislative initiatives.

Currently, Jose is serving as the Director de Asuntos Jurídicos, Política Pública y Relaciones Gubernamentales at Selia. As a member of the founding team, they play a key role in connecting Spanish-speaking individuals with certified mental health professionals for therapy sessions. Their focus is on overcoming barriers to mental health care, such as access, cost, and stigma.

Jose Fernando Tovar Mejia has a Master's degree in Governance, Public Affairs, and Public Administration (MPA-MPP) from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies and obtained a degree in Law (Abogado) from Universidad de Los Andes.
