Álvaro Orgaz Expósito

Álvaro Orgaz Expósito has a diverse work experience in data science and machine learning engineering. Álvaro started their career at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya as a Teacher Assistant from September 2015 to December 2016. Álvaro then joined everis as a Data Scientist from February 2017 to July 2017, where they worked on all phases of project work, including database loading, data checking, data cleaning, and predictive modeling.

In 2017, Álvaro moved on to Younited Credit, where they worked as a Data Risk Analyst. Álvaro was responsible for developing a new credit score from scratch using the ML model XGBoost and collaborated with Kaggle grandmaster J. A. Álvaro contributed to the Data & Risk team led by the CEO Spain and worked there from September 2017 to August 2018.

In 2019, Álvaro had multiple roles at different companies. Álvaro started at GolfForecast.co.uk as a Machine Learning Engineer from January 2019 to April 2019. Later, they joined Aalto University as a Teacher Assistant from September 2019 to December 2019.

At Sellforte, Álvaro played crucial roles. Álvaro started as a Data Scientist in December 2019 and led the responsibility for onboarding customers in 10 countries across Europe. Álvaro developed software in Python, AWS, and Airflow via Scrum sprints. Additionally, they conducted advanced Bayesian statistical MMM modeling with Stan. Álvaro then progressed to the position of Senior Data Scientist from May 2021 to January 2022. Álvaro supervised Data Scientists' work, interviewed and recruited new candidates, and participated in international sales meetings. Most recently, Álvaro is working as the Lead Data Scientist at Sellforte, leading a team of 15 Data Scientists and Data Engineers. Álvaro is focused on working on the scalability of the product impact delivery and defining, managing, and reporting to chiefs quarter team OKRs.

Álvaro Orgaz Expósito has pursued a well-rounded education with a focus on data science and machine learning. Álvaro obtained an MSc in Machine Learning & Big Data from Aalto University between 2019 and 2020, achieving an impressive grade of 4.63 out of 5 with Honours. Prior to that, they completed an MSc in Data Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 2018 to 2019, earning a perfect grade of 5 out of 5. Álvaro also holds an MSc in ICT Innovation with a track in Data Science from EIT Digital Alumni, acquired from 2018 to 2020.

Building the foundation for their advanced studies, Álvaro earned a BSc in Statistics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, graduating in 2018 with a commendable grade of 9.2 out of 10. Before their undergraduate studies, they completed their Baccalaureate in Science & Technology from Institute Eugeni Xammar, finishing with a grade of 8.7 out of 10 in 2014. In addition, they also participated in a Summer Research Program at ICMAB-CSIC conducted by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2013.

Álvaro has also earned several certifications to enhance their skills. These include "How to win a Data Science competition: Learn from Top Kagglers" from Coursera in October 2018, "TOEFL: 96 out of 120" from The TOEFL test in November 2017, "Statistical Learning" from Stanford University in July 2017, "Analytics with Spark" and "Python for Data Science" from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in June 2017, and "First Certificate in English" (B2 Level) from Cambridge English Language Assessment in January 2017.
