Katie Lennard is an experienced bioinformatician with a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Cape Town. Katie has worked as a Bioinformatician at the University of Cape Town since 2017, taking on the role of Head of Bioinformatics at Sengenics in 2021. At Sengenics, Katie leads the Bioinformatics department, developing solutions for precision medicine. Katie also continues to assist with microbiome-related projects at the University of Cape Town. Prior to their current roles, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and a PhD Medical Biochemistry student at the University of Cape Town from 2010 to 2014.
From 2003 to 2006, Katie Lennard attended the University of Stellenbosch, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Following this, in 2009, they enrolled at the University of Cape Town for a one-year program and obtained a BSc (Med) Honours degree in Medical Biochemistry. Katie then continued their education at the University of Cape Town from 2010 to 2015, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Biochemistry with a focus on Colorectal Cancer Research.
