Uwais Asmal CA(SA) has a diverse work experience, spanning from 2008 to 2023. Uwais worked as a Trainee Accountant at KPMG from 2008 to 2011. Following this, they held the role of Management Accountant CA(SA) at Leaf Capital from 2011 to 2012. Uwais then worked at SA Corporate Real Estate Fund as a Financial Manager and Assistant to the Financial Director from 2012 to 2016. Asmal then became the Chief Operating Officer at Aeon Investment Management (pty) Ltd. from 2016 to 2018. From 2018, they joined Outsourced CFO as a Senior Financial Consultant, and subsequently served as the Head of Advisory Services and Executive Head of Advisory Services. Currently, they are working as the Chief Financial Officer at Sensor Networks, starting from 2023.

Uwais Asmal CA(SA) obtained a Honours Bachelor of Accounting Sciences (CTA) degree from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika in 2007. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Accounting degree at Stellenbosch University from 2004 to 2006. Uwais' high school education was completed at Livingstone High School from 1999 to 2003.

Additionally, Uwais has obtained several certifications including SAICA Registered Assessor from SAICA CA(SA) in 2021, The Fundamentals of Digital Marketing from Google Digital Skills For Africa in 2020, Xero Migration Certificate and Xero Advisor from Xero in 2018, Bloomberg Market Concepts from Bloomberg LP in 2017, and various First Level Regulatory Examinations from the Financial Services Board in 2017. Uwais also holds the Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification from SAICA CA(SA) since 2011.
