Maarten van Nieuw Amerongen

Maarten van Nieuw Amerongen currently serves as Jurysecretaris for the PrinsjesBoekenPrijs at the Prinsjesfestival and holds the position of Politiek adviseur at Woord en Daad, focusing on international poverty alleviation and sustainable development policies. Additionally, Maarten is a member of the Referendumcommissie for the Gemeente Capelle aan den IJssel and serves as Fractiesecretaris and previously as a Burgerraadslid for the Gemeente Leiderdorp. Maarten also contributes as a columnist for the Reformatorisch Dagblad and leads the SGP afdeling Leiden-Leiderdorp e.o. Former roles include a monitoring assistant at Schinkelshoek & Verhoog, research intern at the Ministerie van BZK, and national board member for SGP-jongeren. Academically, Maarten has attained a Master of Arts in Philosophy of Law, Governance, and Politics, as well as a Master of Science in Political Science, both from Leiden University.
