David Cassella has had a diverse range of work experiences. David started their career as the Section Supervisor for Medical Surgical Specialty Nursing, where they managed multiple units and supervised nursing personnel. David then became the Clinical Nurse OIC, Ward 57, responsible for providing specialized nursing care on a poly-trauma Orthopedic unit. David went on to serve as the Deputy Chief Nurse and Assistant Deputy Commander for Nursing, overseeing nursing operations and patient care delivery in a large healthcare facility. In 2015, they joined the US Army as the Commander (CEO) of the USAMEDDAC, Fort Leavenworth, leading medical and surgical care services. David also served as the Rear Detachment Commander/Deputy Commander for Nursing (Interim CEO/CNO), responsible for clinical practice and operational readiness of the hospital personnel. In 2018, they joined Contessa Health as the Vice President of the Virtual Care Unit, leading a team of care coordinators in implementing patient-centric care strategies. Currently, they work at Shearwater Health as the Director of Clinical Services, where they assess and evaluates international nursing talent and establishes partnerships with nursing organizations and US client facilities.
David Cassella has a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College, which they obtained from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Critical Care CNS Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, where they studied from 2003 to 2005. David completed their Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Duquesne University from 1990 to 1994.
