Ted Merhoff

Ted’s healthcare experience began in 1988 as an orderly in a Level I pediatric trauma center that ignited his continued passion for healthcare. Over twenty years ago, Ted joined what is today Shearwater Health, attracted by the opportunity to develop an acute care hospital in Poland. While working in Poland, he supported the team’s global healthcare clients by recruiting physicians to work overseas.

Through many global trips to meet hospital and policy leaders and hearing the stories of healthcare workers all over the world, Ted developed a profound appreciation for how nurses and other healthcare professionals cross national borders to make a difference in their livelihood and positively impact healthcare outcomes. From that perspective, Ted created the strategy and vision which is today reflected in the modern form of Shearwater Health.

Ted has created entirely new business models to solve key problems of many healthcare organizations such as finding enough qualified, clinical talent to deliver bedside care, driving optimal labor efficiency and peak of clinical practice, scaling new care offerings and business processes, and controlling expense.
