Amir Afshar has had a diverse career in design and architecture. In 2009, they began working as an Architectural Assistant and Product Design Assistant at Kawamura Ganjavian. Amir also worked as a Photographer and Architectural Assistant at Studio Banana. In 2012, they became a Freelance Designer at Suitcase Magazine Ltd, designing two "Pop Up" shops for the release of the quarterly Suitcase Magazine. Amir also became part of the team behind the OSTRICH PILLOW project at STUDIO BANANA. In 2017, Amir worked as a Design Consultant at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, helping the team to envisage how North Greenwich's urban fabric might change with the introduction of autonomous vehicles. Amir also designed and drafted several scenarios for a GATEway Project publication. In 2018, Amir became an Independant Designer at Atelier LUMA. In 2020, they began working as a Visiting Researcher at Imperial College London. Most recently, in 2019, Amir co-founded Shellworks, a company that creates sustainable packaging alternatives to plastic that don't compromise on performance or aesthetic.
Amir Afshar has a diverse education history. Amir attended Winchester College from 2003-2008, then London Metropolitan University from 2009-2012, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Architecture. Amir then attended the Royal College of Art from 2015-2017, where they received a Master of Arts (MA) in Architecture. Amir also attended Imperial College London from 2017-2019, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Innovation Design Engineering.
