Anand Jay Gaston

Anand Jay Gaston is a Senior Scientist in Materials at Shellworks since June 2021, specializing in the development of scalable and sustainable home compostable biomaterials for primary packaging. Prior to this role, Anand completed a PhD in Polymer Chemistry at The University of Edinburgh from 2017 to 2020, and served as a Tutor and Laboratory Demonstrator, teaching undergraduate students in inorganic chemistry. Leadership experience includes serving as President of the Edinburgh University Chemistry Society, managing strategic initiatives and events for a large community of students and researchers. Additional roles include a Resident Assistant at the University of Edinburgh and summer research positions at the University of Birmingham and the University of Nottingham, focusing on cancer research and enzyme synthesis, respectively. Academic qualifications include an MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Nottingham and A levels from King Edward VI Five Ways.
