Dan Imbat

Dan Imbat has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Dan is currently serving as the Senior Director Strategic Engagement at Shield AI, a defense-technology company that supports operations with the US Department of Defense and allies. Additionally, they are a Stanford Hoover Veteran Fellow at The Hoover Institution, where they collaborate with military veterans to bring innovation and action to policy awareness and implementation. Imbat is also a Presidential Leadership Scholar, participating in a program that focuses on leadership development to solve complex challenges in society.

Prior to their current positions, Imbat worked as the Director of Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems at L3Harris Latitude and the Director of Business Development at L3 Technologies Unmanned Systems. Dan also served as the Director of UAS Operations and Training at Naval Special Warfare Command, managing operations and training of unmanned aircraft systems for SEAL Teams and Special Operations Forces.

Imbat's previous roles include UAS Commander and Technical Special Reconnaissance Commander at Naval Special Warfare Special Reconnaissance Team ONE, where they oversaw the collection of intelligence and targeting products. Dan also established the initial Group 1 UAS training capability at Naval Special Warfare Training Detachment.

Earlier in their career, Imbat worked as an Air Operations Officer at Naval Special Warfare Group ONE and as a Helicopter/LAMPS Element Coordinator at Destroyer Squadron 21, managing and employing a variety of coalition and US Navy helicopters.

Dan Imbat has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, which they obtained from 1987 to 1991. Dan also has a Master of Science degree in Business Management from Troy University, which they acquired from 1991 to 1992. Dan Imbat has completed the Next Step Executive Education program at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 2017. Dan is currently enrolled in the Stanford Ignite, Entrepreneurship & Innovation program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business since 2020. Additionally, Dan Imbat has obtained several certifications in unmanned aircraft systems operation and instruction throughout their career.
