Rafael Alonso has held various positions throughout their career. In 2015, they worked as a Full Stack Developer at Moon Ideas until 2017. Rafael then freelanced as a Game Developer from 2018 to 2019, creating games and experiences in Unity and Unreal Engine 4. In 2019, Rafael co-founded a social network focused on nightlife, but the service was discontinued due to the Covid-19 pandemic. From 2020 to 2021, they worked as a Full Stack Developer and later as a Technical Lead Manager at CreateThrive, overseeing a team of 7 developers. In 2021, Rafael worked as a Software Engineer at Draftea. Rafael also taught Software Architecture and Serverless Architecture at Universidad ORT Uruguay from 2020 to 2023. In 2021, Rafael became the Chief Technology Officer at SHOWX. Currently, they are a Botha Chan Fellow and Project Co-Lead at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where they are part of a highly selective entrepreneurial fellowship program providing stipends and mentorship sessions. Alongside their role at Stanford, Rafael is also a co-founder of Above Software, a company they started in 2023.
Rafael Alonso's education history begins in 2015 at Universidad ORT Uruguay, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems Engineering. This program lasted until 2021. In 2017, they attended The University of Manchester and earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Software Engineering, completing it in 2018.
