JT McLain has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. JT started their career at the Center for American Progress, where they were involved in energy policy. JT then worked at the Clinton Foundation, where they held multiple roles, including Director of Energy Networks and Manager of the Technology Purchasing Alliance. During their time at the Foundation, they negotiated price ceilings on energy-saving technologies with global companies.

Following their work at the Clinton Foundation, McLain had internships at Bloom Energy and Magic Leap, Inc., where they contributed to product marketing, business development, and partnerships. JT then pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business with a focus on strategy and product management.

After completing their MBA, McLain joined Sify Technologies Limited., where they held various positions, including Assistant Vice President of Strategy & Business Development and Vice President of Strategy & Partnerships. In these roles, they analyzed joint project opportunities, established partnerships, and managed teams that led to significant revenue generation. McLain also formed and led Sify's venture capital fund at Sify Ventures, investing in fifteen companies and providing support and advisory to portfolio companies on company strategy, fundraising, and partnerships.
