Deepanshu Utkarsh has held a variety of roles since 2015. Deepanshu was a Web Developer Intern at Solomo Media in 2015, a Webmaster at Tufts University Senate in 2016, a Web Developer at Tufts Student Resources in 2016, an Executive Online Editor at The Tufts Daily in 2017, an Academic Technology Fellow at Tufts Technology Services in 2017, an iOS Developer Intern at Root Robotics in 2018, a Software Engineering Intern at TripAdvisor in 2019, a Project Manager at Tufts JumboCode in 2019, and a Software Engineer at Sigma Computing in 2020. At Tufts JumboCode, they led and managed a team of student developers to create an inventory control system for Tufts University Television, created and taught durable and efficient workflows for modern software development in teams, and used Django and React. At Tufts University, they were a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Computer Science, led the development of a new, department-wide grading system called Jumbograde, and was responsible for grading homework and exams and holding office hours. At TripAdvisor, they implemented page load optimizations and fixes that improved key website performance indicators by 15%, built a highly performant, well documented, functional React localization library to replace previous open source solution, reducing library payload size by 10x, and improving runtime by 100x, and created tooling for build-time configuration variables in React code to replace runtime feature flags, which optimized built assets for both smaller size and faster runtime. At Tufts Technology Services, they refactored and rewrote data scrapers for a university-wide institutional data collection, analysis and visualization tool, using a Django frontend with Celery to create, manage and schedule scraping tasks, and created an online version of a Go Fish card game as a learning tool using JQuery written in TypeScript. At Root Robotics, they implemented and aided design of an iPhone app to be ported from an existing iPad app, refactored the code base to use state of the art technologies like Auto Layout and SpriteKit as well as well-trusted frameworks like Core Animation and Core Graphics (Quartz), and optimized memory usage and visual performance using strategies like tiling, hardware rendering and vectorization. At Tufts Student Resources, they designed and implemented the backend for the in-house payments, orders, and inventory management system, as well as for the user-facing website, worked closely with front-end designer, TSR employees and the Campus Life Financial Office to make sure backend meets their needs, and used a Python/Django stack hosted on Amazon Web Services. At The Tufts Daily, they maintained tuftsdaily.com, a Wordpress site and the Tufts Daily app on the App Store, and maintained and created internal publication tools. At Tufts University Senate, they were responsible for managing and updating Tufts Community Union Senate's website, and rewrote the website with inputs from Senate members in Summer 2017.
Deepanshu Utkarsh attended Delhi Public School, Indirapuram from 2003 to 2016. Deepanshu then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Tufts University from 2016 to 2020. In March 2020, they obtained a certification as a Front End Engineer from Triplebyte.
