Ernst van Nierop

Ernst van Nierop is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in strategy development, engineering, and product management. Currently serving as Director of Strategy at Sila Nanotechnologies Inc. since January 2018, Ernst focuses on strategic planning and market analysis, and previously held the role of Head of Product, where contributions were made to advance battery materials. Ernst's earlier positions include VP of Scaling at GitLab, Inc., where leadership was provided in critical areas, and Co-Founder & CEO of Project BAM, a start-up in metal additive manufacturing. Ernst also served as VP of Engineering at C12 Energy, LLC, specializing in enhanced oil recovery and carbon sequestration, following a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University, where significant research in fluid dynamics was published. Early career experience includes roles as a Process Engineer at Akzo Nobel Base Chemicals and a Student Recruiter at Ebbinge & Company.
