Jo McIlroy has been an educator for over 20 years in her home country of New Zealand and internationally in Indonesia, China, Thailand, and Singapore. She joined the Singapore American School faculty in 2002 as a classroom teacher. Motivated by change, McIlroy's 13 years in the classroom spanned all levels of the elementary school. She spent eight years as a guidance counselor in elementary school before joining the early learning center team in 2014. McIlroy works with our younger learners and serves as the deputy principal of the early learning center at SAS.
McIlroy holds a bachelor of education and a diploma of teaching from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. She has completed two masters degrees—a master of education specializing in international education and a master of guidance and counseling, both through Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. McIlroy also holds an educational leadership certificate in curriculum design from University at Buffalo (SUNY), New York and a certificate of international school leadership from the Principals' Training Center.
McIlroy is married to Craig, a high school science teacher and they have two daughters, Samantha and Charlotte.
