Lance Murgatroyd joined the Singapore American School community in 2012 and currently serve as one of the high school deputy principals. He is entering his 10th year at SAS and his 26th year as an international school educator. He spent five years at the American International School of Johannesburg, South Africa, and 11 years at Jakarta Intercultural School, Indonesia before coming to SAS. The vast majority of his career to date has been spent in a high school math classroom and during that time he had two spells as math department chair. He has also served four years as an IB and AP coordinator.
Born in South Africa, Murgatroyd studied law, earning a bachelor of commerce degree and then a bachelor of laws degree before pursuing education as a career. He completed a masters degree in secondary education and earned his principal’s certification through the Principals’ Training Centre.
