Leslie Chew

Professor Leslie Chew, Senior Counsel, is the founding Dean of the School of Law at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, having joined the University in August 2015.

Professor Chew serves on several governmental committees and tribunals including the Steering Committee of the Future of Law Innovation Programme of the Singapore Academy of Law, the Institutional Disciplinary Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Military Court of Appeal. He is also one of the Vice Presidents of the Singapore Academy of law as well as the Chairman of the Personal Data Protection Appeal Panel. He also serves on the Board of Directors of MY World Preschool Ltd (a company of the Metropolitan YMCA).

A practicing lawyer of some 40 years, Prof Chew was appointed a Senior Counsel in 2000 and has been a Managing Partner of the local firm of KhattarWong LLP now known as Withers KhattarWong. Professor Chew received and completed his legal education from the then University of Singapore, now NUS, in 1978. He is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
