Prior to his current role as Associate Provost for International Relations, Ricky Ang was Head of the Science, Mathematics and Technology Cluster (2018 – 2023), Acting Head of Engineering Product Development (2017-2019), Director of Graduate Studies (2015 – 2017) and PhD Programme Director (2012 – 2014) at SUTD. He received the Singapore Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2017.
He is currently a fellow of IEEE (2022), fellow of UK IOP (2020) and an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer (since 2018). He is a leading expert in the field of electron emission theory, space charge limited current, interface carrier transport and fractional modelling. On these topics, his research is funded by various agencies from Singapore and USA.
Ricky received his Bachelor of Science (1994) from the National Tsinghua University (Hsinchu, Taiwan); and Master of Science (1996) and PhD (1999), both from the Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences, University of Michigan. He was the Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Postdoctoral Fellow in the Applied Physics Division (1999 – 2001).
Before joining SUTD, he was a tenured Associate Professor in the Division of Microelectronics, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University.
