Ioannis Mertzanis has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Their career began as a Technical Support Engineer at Micrologic Computer Systems ltd in 1986. Ioannis then served as a Research Associate at the National Technical University of Athens from 1990 to 1991. From 1993 to 1995, they worked as a Sergeant and Computer Programmer-Analyst in the Hellenic Air Force, receiving recognition for their outstanding performance.
In 1994, Mertzanis joined G-Systems S.A as a Software Developer & Sales Support. Ioannis later joined the University of Surrey as a Research Fellow in the Mobile Communications Research Group, where they worked as a Project Manager and made technical contributions in the field of Mobile and Satellite Broadband Networking & Qos provisioning. Ioannis collaborated with major industrial players during their time there.
In 1999, Mertzanis became a part of the SPACE NET member of SPACE HELLAS S.A Group, initially serving as a Project Manager before moving on to the role of Director, Engineering. Eventually, they became the General Manager and an Executive Member of the Board, responsible for the company's various business operations in telecommunications services, telematics, and high technology applications.
Mertzanis joined Web-IQ as a Non-Executive Board Member in 2017. In 2021, they took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at SenseOne Technologies. Ioannis also served as the Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Member of the Board at SingularLogic, where they held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer prior to assuming the CEO role.
Currently, Ioannis Mertzanis serves as the Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Member of the Board at SPACE HELLAS S.A, holding the title of Chief Executive Officer and Executive Member of the Board.
Ioannis Mertzanis completed their undergraduate studies from 1985 to 1990 at the National Technical University of Athens, where they earned a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
Following this, they pursued their postgraduate education at the University of Surrey. From 1991 to 1992, they obtained an MSc degree in Telematics.
Ioannis then continued their studies at the University of Surrey, specializing in the field of Electrical Engineering, specifically Satellite Communications and QOS Provisioning in Broadband Networks. Ioannis completed their PhD from 1995 to 1999.
