James Collinson

James Collinson is an Operations Data Scientist at SKA Observatory since June 2019, contributing to the development of the world's largest telescope aimed at enhancing our understanding of the Universe through data science. Previously, Collinson worked as a Software Developer specializing in Performance and AI at Eggplant, delivering data-driven solutions, and conducted research in Astrophysics at Durham University, focusing on supermassive black holes and publishing work on hypervariable AGN. Early career experience includes roles as a Refinery Products Analyst and Year in Industry Student at Shell, where machine learning was applied to biodiesel analysis. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Physics and an MPhys in Physics with Astrophysics from Durham University, complemented by a Certificate in Management from St Helens College.
