Guidance, Navigation and Flight Control Engineer at Skydweller

Carlos Pérez Sancha has a diverse range of work experience in the aerospace industry. Carlos started their career in 2015 with an internship at Deimos Space, where they worked as a Support Engineer at the Mission Analysis and Navigation Unit. During this time, they developed a software tool to evaluate the performances of launchers and updated existing software tools for space launcher analysis.

In 2016, Carlos took courses at Airbus Group Inc. on Configuration Management in the Aircraft Industry and Aeronautical Structure Repairs at Production Stage.

In 2017, they worked as an intern at the Aircraft and Space Vehicles department of Universidad Politénica de Madrid, where they focused on developing simulation and control tools for RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems). Carlos also worked on developing a flight simulator with stability augmentation system (SAS) and autopilot for Fixed-Wing, Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) RPAS.

From 2017 to 2018, Carlos worked at Altran as a Consultant Engineer, supporting the Airbus EYCCL Long Range team in the design, implementation, and validation of manual flight control laws for the A330 CEO and NEO programs. Carlos also played a key role in non-regression and validation studies between different flight control law standards for these programs. Additionally, they contributed to the design and implementation of specific flight control laws for the A350 XWB for Airbus' Formation Flight research program.

In 2018, Carlos joined Deimos Space as a Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis Software Developer, where they developed desktop tools for space applications and software for flight dynamics purposes.

Their most recent work experience is with Skydweller Aero since 2019, where they serve as a Guidance, Navigation, and Flight Control Engineer. Their main responsibilities include studying, designing, and implementing GNC logic and flight control laws. Carlos is also involved in the design and implementation of testing architecture and evaluation tools for validating control laws in simulation. Additionally, Carlos is responsible for defining the flight simulator architecture, implementing dynamic models, and validating them with flight telemetry data.

Carlos Pérez Sancha completed their education at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. From 2015 to 2017, they pursued a University Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering with a focus on Aircrafts. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2015, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in Aerospace Vehicles at the same university. Carlos also achieved additional certifications, including graduating with honors at the Baccalaureate level from Junta de Castilla y León in June 2011, and obtaining a Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - C1 European Level from the University of Cambridge in 2011.
