Robert Read has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Robert is the founder and Head Invention Coach at Public Invention, a non-profit organization focused on inventing accessible and life-saving technologies. In this role, they lead collaborative teams and supports emerging inventors through a network of coaches.
Additionally, Robert is a founder and senior advisor to Skylight Digital, where they specialize in Agile software development and assists with challenging business problems. As the Chief Scientist at Skylight Digital, they lead the organization in promoting Agile practices, writing white papers, and setting policy.
Prior to their current roles, Robert co-founded 18F at GSA in 2013 and served as a Presidential Innovation Fellow. Robert worked on the RFP-EZ team, which aimed to save the government money by improving competition and participation from small businesses.
Previously, Robert worked as the Director of Product Development at Planview from 2008 to 2013. Robert also held roles as a contractor at Authoria in 2007 and as a Maintenance Manager and Senior Software Engineer at Hire.com from 1999 to 2004.
Throughout their career, Robert has demonstrated expertise in technology, leadership, and innovation, making significant contributions to the organizations they have been a part of.
Robert Read received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Rice University from 1984 to 1988. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science at The University of Texas at Austin from 1988 to 1995.
