Matthew Romano

Robotics Autonomy Engineer at SkySpecs

Matthew Romano has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and engineering. Matthew is currently employed at SkySpecs as a Robotics Autonomy Engineer. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Michigan as a Graduate Student Researcher and Instructor, where they contributed to a dissertation on planning, control, and estimation for diverse multi-UAS missions. Matthew also co-developed and co-taught a robotics course. Matthew served as an Independent Consultant at NSIN - National Security Innovation Network for a period of six months. Before that, they interned as a Research Engineer at Sprite Robotics. Additionally, Matthew gained experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and as a Test Engineer Intern at Northrop Grumman.

Matthew Romano completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 2013 and 2016. Matthew then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Robotics at the University of Michigan, starting in 2017 and completing in 2022.
