Pilar Garcia-Fernandezsesma

Doc Shorts Festival Programmer at Slamdance

Pilar Garcia-Fernandezsesma is an accomplished animator and educator with extensive experience in animation and film. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Visual Arts since July 2022, Pilar teaches a sophomore-year animation studio course focusing on ToonBoom and film production, and also conducts a three-week introductory animation course for pre-college students. Pilar's recent roles include programming for the Slamdance Doc Shorts Festival and freelance animation projects, such as Paint on Glass Animator for the documentary "Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire." Additional experience includes positions as Lead Animator for the short film "Tell Me When You Get Home," Animation Director for Demi Lovato's VMA performance, and work on various animated projects for educational and independent films. Pilar holds a Bachelor's degree in Animation from the Rhode Island School of Design and a high school diploma in Visual Art from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School.
