Phillip Skahan has a diverse work experience in the field of process engineering and research. Phillip started their career at UC Santa Barbara as a Graduate Student Researcher, where they focused on the design and development of active photonic integrated circuits for optical communication systems. Phillip worked under the supervision of Professor Daniel Blumenthal and was involved in various aspects of the research, including design, simulation, fabrication, characterization, and testing.
After completing their PhD, Phillip Skahan joined KYOCERA SLD Laser as a Process Development Engineer. In this role, they contributed to the development and improvement of processes related to laser diode production. Phillip later transitioned to the position of Member of Technical Staff, where they continued to work on process engineering and played a role in optimizing production processes. Currently, Phillip Skahan holds the position of Manager, R&D Process Engineering at KYOCERA SLD Laser. The duration of this role is ongoing, and specific details about the responsibilities and accomplishments in this position are not provided.
Phillip Skahan completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville between 2006 and 2010. Phillip then pursued further education at UC Santa Barbara, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2010 to 2011. Finally, they continued their studies at UC Santa Barbara and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2010 to 2015.
