Daniel Gartenberg PhD has worked in a variety of roles in the field of psychology since 2009. Daniel began their career as an Engineering Psychologist at the Naval Research Laboratory. In 2009, they also began working as a Cognitive Psychology Ph.D. Student at George Mason University, where they added to the construct of Situation Awareness by studying the eye movements of operators and developed a predictive model of errors based on eye movement data. In 2013, they began working as a Science Research Specialist at the Air Force Research Laboratory, where they developed computational models of attention and vigilance. In the same year, they also co-founded and became CEO of Fly Fleet LLC, a company with a top rated app called Fleet. In 2016, they became an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Penn State University, executing an NSF & NIH STTR with the Biobehavioral Health program and Dr. Orfeu Buxton to develop a wrist watch device to better measure sleep. Daniel also became Founder & CEO of Mobile Sleep Technologies LLC, a company that received a grant from the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Health to develop a new way of detecting sleep quality. In 2017, they became a Resident at TED Conferences, a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas in more than 100 languages. Daniel is also an Organizer at The Quantified Self.

Daniel Gartenberg PhD obtained their BS in Psychology and English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008. Daniel then pursued a Ph.D. in Psychology at George Mason University, which they completed in 2016. In October 2020, they obtained a Biomedical Human Subjects Research (IRB) Course certification from the CITI Program, a division of BRANY.
