Russell Gu

Russell Gu is an experienced leader in credit risk and data strategy, currently serving in a key role at Slope since September 2023. Prior to this position, Russell held various leadership roles at American Express from July 2014 to September 2023, including Director of Kabbage Risk, where responsibilities included designing and executing underwriting and credit strategies. Russell successfully managed significant loan exposure during the COVID-19 pandemic and contributed to international business lending solutions. Earlier experience as a Data Research Scientist at Digital Roots involved advanced statistical analysis and the development of machine learning classifiers for social media data. Russell holds a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Minor in Mathematics from The University of British Columbia.
