Magdalena Getler

Magdalena Getler has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Magdalena currently works at Smart Data Foundry, a fintech startup, where they hold the role of Head of Research Facility. Their responsibilities include defining, building, and delivering the research facility product. Prior to this, they were the Product Lead for My Foundry at Smart Data Foundry, where they led the branding and messaging for a synthetic data engine. Magdalena also served as the Digital Lead for Open Banking Technical Standards at the same company, responsible for managing standards for innovation in open banking/finance/data.

Before joining Smart Data Foundry, Magdalena worked as the Head of Digital Services at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education & Centre for Open Learning. In this role, they provided leadership and strategic direction to ensure the delivery of a wide range of services, meeting users' needs and achieving digital strategy outcomes.

Earlier in their career, Magdalena worked at the Digital Curation Centre, a global research institute based at the University of Edinburgh. As a Curation Services Officer and Program Manager, they successfully led the delivery of a new strategy and set goals for developing a single point of access to digital research services.

Magdalena also has experience working at the BBC as a Television Media Manager. In this role, they liaised closely with program makers and advised on media management, policies, taxonomy, and research. Magdalena researched new ways of archiving and preserving content in the digital environment and collaborated with senior managers on developing archive delivery policies.

Magdalena Getler started their education in 1997 and completed their MA degree in Sociology from the University of Lodz in 2002. Their specialization during this period was Political Relations with Economics and Statistics. In 2004, they attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, specifically their Division of Continuing Education, for a year. In 2006, they pursued an MSc degree in Information Management and Digital Preservation from the University of Glasgow, which they completed in 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Magdalena also obtained several certifications. In 2016, they became a UXQB Certified Professional for Usability and User Experience, awarded by iSQI. In 2017, they obtained the ITIL Foundation certificate in IT Service Management from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Finally, in 2019, they received the Agile Project Management Foundation certification from APMG International.
