Carlos Gil Jiménez

Carlos Gil Jiménez has a diverse work experience in various roles within the technology industry. Carlos began their career as a Software Engineer at Indra, where they developed and maintained projects for public administration clients. Carlos utilized technologies such as J2EE, Hibernate, Spring Framework, JSF, RichFaces, Oracle, HTML, and Apache Tomcat.

Carlos then joined Toprural, a HomeAway.com company, as a Software Engineer, where they worked on projects requested by UX and SEO teams. Carlos followed agile methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban, and Pair Programming, and conducted unitary, functional, and integration testing of the software.

Next, Carlos joined HomeAway.com as a Software Engineer, focusing on the Order and Payments Platform team. Carlos worked on a migration project to consolidate the shopping cart functionality of multiple sites into a global one while preserving the specific features of each site. Carlos also developed and maintained REST APIs, internal services, and internal tools related to retail and bulk orders, invoices, and subscriptions.

After that, Carlos joined Spotahome, a European startup, as a Software Engineer. Carlos quickly transitioned into a Tech Lead role, leading a cross-functional team of backend, frontend, and QA engineers. Carlos provided guidance to the team and contributed to the codebase.

Currently, Carlos is working at Smart Protection as an Engineering Manager. Carlos has transitioned between different engineering tribes and squads, acting as both a Tech Lead and an Engineering Manager. Carlos has played a role in hiring, defining processes, and setting objectives. Carlos also built and manages the Internal Users engineering tribe, leading its technical direction and vision. Carlos has contributed to engineering transversal initiatives within the organization.

Throughout their career, Carlos has demonstrated proficiency in various technologies and has taken on diverse responsibilities as a technical lead and engineering manager.

Carlos Gil Jiménez attended the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 2003 to 2009, where they obtained a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. In addition to their formal education, they have also acquired several certifications. In July 2013, they received a Certificate in Advanced English from the University of Cambridge. Carlos further acquired a certification in Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November 2020. Additionally, in January 2013, they obtained a certification as a Scrum Manager from Estratecno.
