Khodr Akil

Khodr Akil has extensive experience in leadership roles within technology and service sectors, particularly focused on election automation and infrastructure security. As President of Smartmatic since July 2014, Khodr Akil oversees a team providing comprehensive election automation services across the MEA region, including biometric enrolment and eVoting solutions. Prior to this, Khodr Akil served as Chief Operating Officer at Kudumba Investments Lda, where responsibilities included implementing security infrastructure projects and managing substantial budgets. Additionally, Khodr Akil held significant positions at SITA, including Vice President of Sales and Relationship Management for Africa, and has been an Executive Board Member of the Maputo Corridor Logistics Initiative since 2010. With a foundation in electrical and computer engineering from Wayne State University, Khodr Akil began a career in engineering at Chrysler Motors before transitioning to roles focused on sales, management, and technical solutions.
