Michael Leary

Michael Leary, CFA, currently serves as Chief Risk Officer and Managing Director/EVP at SMBC MANUBANK since January 2022, overseeing risk management for consumer and commercial lending, financial risks, and digital banking channels. Prior to this role, Michael held the title of Senior Vice President of Risk Management at U.S. Bank from April 2012 to January 2022, focusing on risk strategy innovation and the development of underwriting systems. Michael's extensive career in risk management also includes significant positions at Bank of America, Fleet Credit Card Services, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and the FDIC, where Michael contributed to key initiatives in risk strategy and regulatory compliance. Michael earned a B.S. in Economics from King's College in 1991.
