Kasim Sodangi

Kasim Sodangi has a wealth of work experience, beginning in 2005 as a Legal Associate for Law Allianz, Nigeria. In 2007, they became the Head of Strategic Alliances for Superbrands International. Kasim then moved to CBO Capital in 2013 as the Head of Public Sector Business and Up Country Operations. In 2009, they returned to Law Allianz as an Associate. In 2019, they joined the National Information Technology Development Agency as the Team Lead of Investigation and Compliance for the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation. In 2020, they became the Chief Legal Officer for the same agency. In 2021, they have taken on three roles: Director Governmental and Regulatory Affairs and Head of Compliance for Smile Identity, Co-Founder and Director for Advocacy for Policy and Innovation (API) Not-for-Profit, and Ag. National Coordinator for Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI).

Kasim Sodangi has a comprehensive educational background. In 2004, they completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Ahmadu Bello University, with a focus in Civil Law (LLB). Kasim then furthered their education in 2020, earning a Master of Laws (LLM) in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law from the University of Sussex. In addition, Kasim has obtained several certifications, including a Certificate of Competence- Making the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Work from the African Center for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) in April 2020, a National CSIRT Workshop and Information Sharing Training from the Software Engineering Institute | Carnegie Mellon University in November 2019, a General Course on Intellectual Property from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in April 2019, The Power of Macroeconomics: Economic Principles in the Real World from Coursera Course Certificates in December 2016, and Artificial Intelligence Unlocked from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law.
