Tams Sokari

Tams Sokari has been in the software engineering field since 2012. In that year, they began their career as an Industrial Trainee at Monier Const. Co. (Nig.) Ltd., where they supervised the construction of open-lined drains and reinforced concrete walkways, designed and detailed RC Drains and Walkways, and estimated material quantities for construction of RC Drains and Walkways, as well as highway pavements. In 2013, they became a Site Engineer at Taurian Prodigy (Nig.) Ltd., where they were responsible for material quantities estimation and planning and tracking of projects using project management software, as well as supervising craftsmen.

In 2015, Tams Sokari joined Andela as a Senior Software Engineer, and later became a Senior Software Engineer/Product Manager and Technical Team Lead. In 2016, they began working at Transfix as a Senior Software Engineer, where they led the technical part of their re-brand in 6 weeks, moved from GatsbyJS to the Eleventy Static Site Generator for the marketing site, migrated from HubSpot to SquareSpace for the blog, and improved performance and accessibility in the process. Tams also worked on some TMS bidding automation resulting in increased inflow to the business, built scheduling software for their async jobs, led the FE development of a self-serve booking flow for their SME customers, contributed to the design pattern library, mentored junior engineers, and led and participated in software architecture sessions.

Tams Sokari is currently a Senior Software Engineer at Smile Identity.

Tams Sokari completed a High School degree at Air Force Secondary School, Port Harcourt from 2002 to 2008. Tams then went on to obtain an Engineer's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt between 2009 and 2014. In 2015, Tams Sokari obtained three certifications from MongoDB, Inc.: M101JS - MongoDB for Node.js Developers, M101P - MongoDB for Developers, and M102 - MongoDB for DBAs.
