Taryn Ryan has a vast work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Taryn is currently serving as the Head Of Global Marketing at Smith Optics since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Oakley from 2017 to 2021, holding the position of Senior Global Brand Manager and Head of Brand Management. Before Oakley, they worked at Luxottica from 2010 to 2017, where they held various roles including Business Manager for Oakley Middle East and Africa, Business Unit Manager for Oakley South Africa, and Senior Brand Manager for the sport brand portfolio in Africa. Taryn Ryan's education history starts in 2000 when they attended the University of Cape Town and earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Culture and Literary Studies, with a focus on Film and Media. Taryn completed their undergraduate studies in 2002. After that, in 2003, they pursued a Post Graduate Diploma (PgDip) in Marketing Management at the University of Cape Town, which they completed in 2004. Following this, in 2004-2005, they enrolled at the AAA School of Advertising and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PgDip) with distinction in Copywriting. In recent years, Taryn attended the IE Business School from 2021 to 2022, where they earned an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Additionally, Taryn has obtained various certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2016, they completed the "Management of Fashion and Luxury Companies" program offered by Università Bocconi. In 2018, they acquired certifications in "Project Management Simplified," "Advanced Branding," and "Strategic Thinking" through LinkedIn. In 2020, they completed the certifications titled "Marketing Analytics in Practice" and "Marketing Analytics in Theory" from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Most recently, in 2022, Taryn became a CIM MCIM Member through the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and also earned a certification in "Corporate Sustainability.
