Ian Prates serves as a Research Project Manager at Social Accountability International since December 2019, focusing on the development of methodologies for Living Wage and Living Income, while coordinating the Anker Subnational Estimates Project. In addition, Ian has held various research roles, including Research Fellow at SAI and researcher at the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning since August 2011. Ian’s experience includes a Senior Consultant position at the International Labour Organization, where responsibilities included the development of the Brazilian Occupations Guide. Past roles also encompass consulting for Fairtrade International and Rainforest Alliance, alongside research positions at Columbia University and Centro de Estudos da Metrópole. Ian holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Sociology from USP - Universidade de São Paulo, along with a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais.
