C. Edward (Ted) Allen

C. Edward (Ted) Allen has a diverse work experience across various organizations. C. Edward (Ted) is currently serving as the Vice President of Policy & Advocacy at the Society for Corporate Governance since May 2021. Prior to this, they held multiple roles at the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) from 2012 to 2021, including Vice President of Communications and Member Engagement, and Director of Regulatory Affairs and Practice Resources. At NIRI, they oversaw advocacy efforts, provided guidance on corporate governance and disclosure matters, and led the production of a 200-page book for the Investor Relations Charter certification program.

In addition, Ted worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies from 2016 to 2019, teaching business communications and investor relations. C. Edward (Ted) received the Tropaia Outstanding Faculty Member Award in 2016.

Earlier in their career, Ted served as Governance Counsel/Director of Publications at ISS, advising the ISS Policy Board and managing newsletters and a blog on corporate governance and securities litigation from 2004 to 2012. Prior to that, they were the Legal News Editor at Bloomberg News, overseeing a team of reporters covering legal news involving public companies.

Ted also worked as a Senior Editor at ALM, contributing to Legal Times and The Daily Deal, where they edited commentary sections and wrote a regular column on law firms and legal topics. C. Edward (Ted) briefly served as an Associate at Proskauer Rose LLP and Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, and began their career as a Staff Writer at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

C. Edward (Ted) Allen pursued their education diligently, with a focus on law, journalism, public policy, political science, and history. In 1978, they began their educational journey at St. Albans, where they studied political science, government, and history until 1984. C. Edward (Ted) then enrolled at Duke University from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained an A.B. degree in Public Policy and Political Science. Moving forward, from 1989 to 1990, they attended the Columbia University - Graduate School of Journalism and earned an M.S.J. degree in Journalism. Finally, they attended Georgetown University Law Center from 1992 to 1995, where they obtained their J.D. degree in law. Through these educational experiences, C. Edward (Ted) Allen built a strong foundation in various disciplines, preparing him for their future endeavors.
