Norma Ming has worked in various roles since 2000. Norma began their career as an Assessment Development Consultant at LessonLab, then worked as a Research Associate at UCLA and an Assessment Development Consultant at iMind Education Systems. In 2001, they became a Ph.D. student at the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, where they served as a Teaching Fellow at the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and a Co-Instructor and Teaching Assistant at the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management. In 2006, they became a Visiting Scholar and Lecturer at the Graduate School of Education at UC Berkeley. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Senior Research Scientist at the Nexus Research and Policy Center and a Senior Research Scientist at the National Research Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Phoenix. During this time, they also served as Co-Founder and Director of Learning Design at Socos. In 2014, they became the Supervisor of Research at the San Francisco Unified School District.
Norma Ming began their educational journey in 1986 when they attended the Center for Talented Youth. Norma then graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1990. After that, they attended Harvard University and earned a B.A. in Chemistry in 1994. Finally, they attended Carnegie Mellon University and earned a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology in 2006.
