Melissa Krut has held various roles in the education and technology fields. Melissa began their career in 2002 as a High School English Teacher and Department Chair at Frederick County Public Schools, where they taught classes including Creative Writing, Advanced Placement Language and Composition, and English 10 (American English), and advised National Honor Society, Creative Writing Club, and the literary magazine. In 2006, they took on the role of Co-Director of the Student Writers' Workshop at the Maryland Writing Project. In 2009, Melissa joined the Peace Corps as a University Educator and Teacher Trainer. Melissa then moved to K12 Insight in 2013, where they worked as Director of Training and Development and Senior Relationship Manager. In 2016, Melissa began working at Sogolytics as VP of Success and then Senior Director of Success. In 2018, they joined American University as Adjunct Faculty and Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant.
Melissa Krut obtained their Bachelor of Science in English Education and Spanish Minor from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2002. Melissa then went on to obtain their Master of Arts in Writing, focus in Poetry from The Johns Hopkins University in 2008. In 2017, they obtained their Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from American University. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained a Teacher-Consultant certification from the National Writing Project in 2004, an Advanced Professional Certificate in Secondary English Education from the Maryland State Department of Education in 2002, and a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM in 2019.
