Head Of First Nations Programming at Sydney Opera House

Michael Hutchings has a diverse work experience in the arts and music industry. From 2006 to 2011, they worked as an Indigenous Music Manager at MusicNSW, followed by a role as Studio and Music Label Manager at Gadigal Information Service from 2008 to 2011. In 2011, they became the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Music Office National Representative at APRA AMCOS, where they focused on increasing the organization's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander member base and maximizing royalty earnings. From 2015 to 2022, they worked as an Artist Manager at Pirra Music. In 2018, they served as the Music Director/Curator/Booker for the Surry Hills Festival. Since January 2020, they have been working as a Project Manager for First Nations Arts and Culture at the Australia Council for the Arts, where they work closely with First Nations artists and arts organizations across the country. In 2023, they will join the Sydney Opera House as the Head of First Nations Programming.
