Jason Ferrell has extensive work experience in data science, data engineering, and management reporting. Jason is currently the Director of Data Science at NRG Energy, a position they assumed in January 2021. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2021, they worked at Direct Energy Business as the Director of Data Science and Management Reporting. In this role, they built and led an internal data science and data engineering team, oversaw the transition of the data platform to cloud-based technologies, and directed a management reporting team.
Before joining Direct Energy Business, Jason worked at NRG Energy from 2010 to 2015. Jason held the position of Manager, Structured Load Analytics, where they managed a team responsible for the Texas Electricity Load Forecast. Jason also served as a Supervisor, Load Forecasting, and a Structuring Analyst during their tenure at NRG Energy.
Additionally, Jason has held positions at AIG Investments as a Senior Analyst in Performance Measurement and Product Analysis, at General Motors Asset Management as a Consultant, at Orlando Utilities Commission as an Accountant/Technology specialist, at Aquillix Consulting LLC as a Consultant, and as an independent Consultant.
Early in their career, Jason worked as an ERP Project Manager at McCook Metals. Overall, their experience spans various industries and encompasses responsibilities such as team management, forecasting, performance measurement, and project management.
Jason Ferrell holds a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business, which they obtained from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, Jason is a CFA Charterholder, awarded by the CFA Institute in 2008. In June 2020, they successfully passed the Series 3, National Commodity Futures Exam administered by FINRA. Despite lacking specific details, Jason attended Naperville Central from 1993 to 1995 and West Forsyth from 1991 to 1995 without completing a degree or field of study at either institution.
